Emma Bates is an English illustrator and printmaker currently based in Berlin. Emma engages in a wide range of mediums using traditional printing methods, collage and contemporary digital techniques to create magical creatures and scenery. Emma takes inspiration from the wonders of paganism, witchcraft and ancient folklore. Often combining elements from the natural world. Her illustrations  tell stories of forgotten traditions that still have a place in todays contemporary world, interweaving themes of magic, curiosity for the past and quirks in human nature.
